The Beach at Your Doorstep

310 Sandpiper Lane sits steps from the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. Here is what to know before you go.

Drive onto the sand

The Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area is one of the only beaches in California where street-legal vehicles can drive on the sand. Access is via the Pier Avenue ramp, and a day-use permit is required per vehicle through California State Parks or at the entrance kiosk.

Gentle surf for beginners

Waves here tend to be gentler than Pismo's main beach, which makes it a good spot for beginner surfers and boogie boarders. Two surfboards and four boogie boards are in the garage for guests to use.

Bonfires and dogs

Fires are permitted in designated areas on the Oceano Dunes and beach, and leashed dogs are welcome in designated areas of the dunes. Check current State Parks rules for allowed hours and ash disposal.

Beach gear included

Seven beach chairs, two surfboards, four boogie boards, and a chest of beach toys are all provided. Please rinse the sand off at the outdoor shower before heading back inside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to what guests ask most. Anything else, just reach out — we are happy to help before you book.

Ask us anything

Can I drive on the beach?

Yes. Oceano Dunes is one of the few beaches in California allowing street-legal vehicle access, via the Pier Avenue ramp. A day-use permit is required per vehicle and can be bought online through California State Parks or at the entrance kiosk.

Where do I park?

Two parking spaces are available in the driveway. The garage is a recreational chill zone rather than parking. Street parking is subject to posted local signs and restrictions.

Is there air conditioning?

Like most homes on this stretch of coast, the house does not have air conditioning. The ocean breeze does most of the work, and there are fans plus a reliable heating system for cooler months.

How many people can stay?

The home sleeps 12 across five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Maximum occupancy is 12 guests, and we ask that no unauthorized guests stay beyond those booked.

Is it family friendly?

Very. There is a high chair and a pack n play, a garage hangout with cornhole and boogie boards, and a chest of beach toys on the patio. The beach itself is a short walk from the front door.

Are pets allowed?

No pets in the home. Leashed dogs are welcome in designated areas of the dunes if you are visiting the beach with friends who have one.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 4:00 PM and check-out is by 10:00 AM. Wi-Fi details and your personal door code are sent before arrival and are active for the length of your stay.

Who do I contact during my stay?

Grant is a text or call away at (559) 679-5886, day or night, for anything urgent at the property.
